This week’s post is the next challenge for our international blogger’s Club (IBC). More about IBC at the end of this post. Our theme this month is “Mystical Makes”. I had no idea what this meant so I googled it and this was the meaning (relating to mystics or religious mysticism). My first thought was “buddha” because I have so many around my home and garden. I kept it simple this month and went for a Buddha air planter.
They have done it again! The latest victim of my two Jack Russell terrorists was my beautiful terracotta pot. It has become a regular occurrence for them to destroy things around our home. I was hoping they would have outgrown that destructive stage by now, but no such luck. On a positive note, they do keep me in project ideas. And converting that broken terracotta pot into a planter was my next project.
I usually have no trouble maintaining my garden but this border has been a pain in the butt for years. With all the rain we have been having here in Australia my flower beds have been overrun with weeds and grass. Every year this flower bed gets stripped of grass and weeds and every year it all comes back. So this year I wanted to create a low maintenance flower bed using bicycle tyres and logs to make planters.
My idea for this project was to make a fun planter from a recycled chocolate tin. I am really hopeless with watering plants and thanks to my destructive dogs I can not have nice planters in my garden. So my idea was to have an indoor planter with artificial succulents. Because the plants would not need watering, I got the idea to add a secret storage compartment inside the planter.
I was recently given a few wooden pallets to make projects out from. They are a very cheap way to make projects because most of the time you can get the pallets for free. But there is a downside to working with them, the main one is you need to be Hercules to get them apart. I always thought I was strong until I tackled a pallet.
Like so many other Unicorn Spitters out there I am always on the lookout for new items to spit on. After my daughter left home I found her old goldfish bowl (no fish inside) in her bedroom, and I thought it would look great as a Unicorn Spit Glass lamp. But I did not like the end project so it became a Unicorn Spit glass planter.
If you follow my projects you will know that most of my projects are made using recycled materials. I hate getting rid of any wood, but when my woodpile gets a bit big I use the scraps to make simple projects. And this is one of those projects. I wanted to make a wooden planter for my succulents.

My idea for this project was to use a ceramic bottle and decorate it to look like my skull bottle was wearing clothes.

In this project, I am sharing how I upcycled some aluminium drink cans into Shimmering Aluminum Can Art. My idea was to create an image of a star and then cover it with small circles cut from aluminium drink cans.

It is also time for the next challenge for our International Blogger’s challenge club (IBC). Each month we get together to create a project around a common theme. And I am sure you have guessed by now the theme is “Rugged Ropes and Twisted Twine”. This simple rope wall was my contribution. More about (IBC) at the end of this post.
I have been wanting to do this project for a long time now, but I have been struggling to find a piece of wood large enough. In my head, I imagined a large wooden gecko looking like it was climbing up the wall of my house. If you follow my blog you will also know I am mad about Shou Sugi Ban. And yes, you got it, the finish was going to be Shou sugi ban.
I have recently taken a few months off from blogging to repaint the inside and outside of my house. Instead of putting the same wall decor back up, I wanted to create all new ones. My bedroom decor is all heavy wood with African themed bedding, so I wanted to try and create a geometric lion wall hanging made from faux leather.
