Coffee Table Gets a Makeover

Coffee Table Gets a Makeover

I am always on the lookout for interesting looking furniture, and my local facebook marketplace is one of the best places to look.  There is always someone getting rid of furniture that they no longer want, and most of the time it is free. But saying that the free furniture is usually in very poor shape.  The previous owner had started to sand the table but gave up for some reason and gave the table away. Continue Reading →

Bean Bag Toss Game For The Elderly

Bean bag toss

I work as an aged care nurse and recently I was asked to fill in as the activities officer which is the person responsible for entertaining our elderly residents. Having no experience and wanting to do something different I made them a game to play.  I have made them a horseracing game in the past and it was a huge hit. It was one of the few games that got all our resident to join in. I was finding it hard to think of new activities so I made them a bean bag toss game. Continue Reading →

How to Make a Live Edge Mirror From Scrap Wood

How to Make a Live Edge Mirror From Scrap Wood

I found this ugly old mirror for free on my local marketplace site, but it was too plain and ugly for my house as it was. I try and make all my projects from recycled materials so this mirror was my next victim. I cut my mirror to size using a glass cutting knife and because this mirror was thin it snapped perfectly first time. The length of my mirror was 1300mm by 400mm wide. Continue Reading →

The clock below was build using scraps of wood that I had lying around at home. Continue Reading →

Pebble Table Runner

How to make a stone/pebble table runner

I saw these pebble table runners and it was love at first sight but did not want to pay the big price tag that went along with buying one. So I tried to make my own. I did not know where to start to find the square mesh that was used for the one in the shop and I like to make my projects from recycled materials so I hunted around the house for something to use. I had an old set of blackout curtains the ones with the rubber backing and some old net curtains.  e two together at intervals of 10cm, the idea being that the glue would grab on to the net curtain and the lining would hold the weight if it needed to be moved. Boring Mirror Revamp

I had some boring mirrors lying around, they were one of my daughter’s impulse buys when she worked at a budget store. So I thought I would have a go at giving them a revamp, rather than leaving them living under the bed.  I had used this method before to make a stone table runner for my dressing table and I was so happy with the end results  Continue Reading →
