I am always on the lookout for new projects to keep my website fresh and interesting. Mixed media is going to be the new craft I teach myself. Browsing through Pinterest I came across mixed media canvases. It was love at first sight. I went on youtube and watched a few tutorials and decided to have a go. To make it easier to get started I picked my daughter’s recent wedding as a theme. The idea was to use elements from for wedding and wedding day to decorate the canvas.
I was looking for ideas for a Father’s day gift that I could make using my Cricut. Many men in Australia have a man cave or a men’s shed as they call them. I thought a man cave sign with man cave rules would be a great idea. I looked online for ideas and most of the man cave signs were all made as not to offend others or worded to be politically correct.
It is time again for our International Bloggers Club (IBC), and this month the topic was to make a project using toilet roll. I must admit this project was a real challenge for me, trying to come up with something unique using toilet paper was no easy task. The outcome was an oriental canvas decorated using toilet roll. The little Buddha statue sums up how I felt about this project.
Being a DIY and craft blogger I like to try new projects to keep my hobby interesting. The downfall to changing your type of projects is that you need to buy all new craft supplies, which in the case of mixed media is expensive. To do mixed media craft you need some suitable waxes, shimmer sprays and paints. Looking online for supplies I found the cost of these products so high that is was not viable for me to buy them when I only do a handful of each type of project. To avoid the high cost of the mixed media supplies I made my own form products I had at home.
