It is time again for this month’s International Blogger Club Challenge (IBC). This month the topic was “Sands of Time”, we had to create something incorporating this theme into our project. I chose to upcycle an old sand timer that has been sitting in my cupboard for years.
I have been trying to make the final photos of my DIY projects more appealing to the eye. To do this I have been making some props to go with my photos. A while ago I decorated some books in a steampunk style to enhance my photos. And I have recently been asked how I made them. So I wanted to share with you the method I used to make these steampunk books.
I am in the process of redecorating my spare room in a Steampunk theme, and no bedroom would be complete without a Lamp. So here is my version of a steampunk lamp with an added feature of a mixed media makeover. These lamps are made using galvanized or brass pipes and fitting and you can be as creative as you like with the design.
Having a little great-niece that comes to visit on a regular basis I am inspired to try and make projects to entertain her. I have recently made a toddler’s craft table so I needed a zebra bench to go with it.
When I found some wine barrels at our local university for $50 I bought 5 of them. I wanted to try and make something different with each barrel. I looked on Pinterest for inspiration and saw one similar to this with a fire pit in the middle. This gave me the idea to add a wine bucket in the middle where your ice, wine and drinks can be stored while you are sitting around the table chatting. They were all mainly rustic which is not a look I like. The girly side of me wants my projects to look pretty so they will look great inside and out. This tutorial combines a few of my wine barrel tables showing tips and tricks I learnt along the way.
Last year for Halloween I made a Halloween mirror using waterslide paper to create the effect of a skull looking out of a mirror. It was very popular as well a creepy some said. One comment that I got stuck with me. The comment was, that it would have looked better if the skull looked like it was coming out of the mirror.
With Halloween coming around soon, it is time to start doing some Halloween decorations. Because it is only one day people want to keep their crafts quick and easy. And this project is just that. Another good thing about this method is, after Halloween, you can soak off the designs and paint and your glasses are back to normal.
