If you’ve got a tired old wind chime hanging in your garden, this colourful DIY might be just the inspiration you need. In today’s post, How to Make Your SPiT Sparkle, I’ll show you how I transformed a dull wooden wind chime into a sparkling piece of garden art using Unicorn SPiT and mica powder.
With Christmas fast approaching, I couldn’t help but notice one festive trend popping up everywhere—buffalo plaid Christmas crafts. Inspired by the bold red and black pattern that dominates Pinterest, I decided to make these DIY Framed Christmas Signs using recycled photo frames and leftover fabric from an old shirt. Paired with vinyl decals cut using my Cricut, these simple signs add a charming rustic vibe to any holiday display. Even better? They’re easy to customise and reuse for different seasons!
If you want to add some charm and colour to your dog’s collar, this DIY flannel dog bandanna is a fun, budget-friendly sewing project that’s perfect for beginners. With our kids all grown up and out of the house, our cheeky little Jack Russells have quickly become the new stars of my craft room. They love the attention (well, most of the time), and I couldn’t resist making them some personalised dog bandannas using an old flannel shirt destined for the donation pile. It’s a great way to upcycle fabric while creating something both adorable and practical—and with a little added vinyl, these bandannas are as unique as the pups who wear them!
Have you ever restored a piece of furniture, only to struggle finding doorknobs to match your vision? That’s exactly what happened to me. I was left with a stunning upcycled buffet but couldn’t find the right knobs to finish the look. That’s when I decided to make my own—and this DIY project turned out better than I expected!
With leftover epoxy resin from another project, I made stunning custom doorknobs using steampunk charms and a few supplies from around the house. In this post, I’ll show you exactly how to make epoxy resin doorknobs or drawer pulls that are both practical and beautiful.
If you’re searching for a charming handmade project for Valentine’s Day, this Vintage Valentine Wall Hanging with “Love Is” Quotes will steal your heart. Inspired by the nostalgic Love Is comic strip, this wall hanging combines burlap hearts, iron-on vinyl, and rustic embellishments into a romantic DIY project. Whether you’re new to vinyl cutting or a seasoned crafter, this adorable hanging adds a sentimental, vintage touch to your home. And best of all? It’s made using recycled and repurposed materials, making it both meaningful and eco-friendly!
When the International Bloggers Club (IBC) challenged us to create a project using toilet paper, I’ll admit I was stumped! But after a bit of creative brainstorming — and some sideways looks from my husband as I raided our precious bathroom stash (During Covid) — I came up with this oriental-inspired mixed media canvas using toilet roll. With texture, gold leaf, and handmade embellishments, this piece evolved into a surprisingly elegant creation.
If you’ve ever wondered how to give a bottle a mixed-media makeover, you’re in the right place! I first discovered altered bottles on Pinterest and was instantly hooked. The idea of recycling old bottles that were headed for the bin into eye-catching, artistic creations really appealed to my love of upcycling.
If you’ve ever wanted to create a beautiful and low-maintenance plant display, this DIY tutorial on how to make your own themed succulent terrarium is the perfect project. Whether you’re decorating your home, looking for a unique gift, or want to add life to a small space, succulent terrariums are an easy and creative way to bring nature indoors. In this post, I’ll show you how to make a themed version using a few simple materials, thrifted treasures, and hardy succulents. This is a fun project for beginners or plant lovers who want a personalised touch in their home décor.
If you’re after a quirky and budget-friendly Halloween craft, you’ll love these Halloween Skull Decor Characters Made from Shot Glasses and Toilet Rolls. What started as a case of buying the wrong-sized skulls online turned into a fun upcycled DIY project using recycled materials I already had at home. These spooky little figures make perfect Halloween table centrepieces or decorations for around the house—and they’re sure to bring a smile (or a scare) to your guests!
If you’re a fan of Unicorn SPiT like me, you’re always hunting for the next object to transform. That’s exactly how this Unicorn SPiT glass bowl planter came to life. While clearing out my daughter’s old room, I found an empty goldfish bowl tucked away. It was the perfect canvas for a colourful experiment, and although it was meant to become a lamp, it evolved into a striking indoor planter with bold, glass-stained detail.
I was scrolling through Pinterest one day when I stumbled upon some incredible mixed-media art projects. Instantly, I thought to myself, this is something I want to try. But after checking prices online and in-store, I was shocked by how expensive the supplies were.
Since I wasn’t sure if it was something I’d be good at, or even enjoy, I didn’t want to invest a heap of money in materials I might only use once. So, rather than researching the exact ingredients in each product, I simply looked around my craft stash and tried to recreate the supplies myself using what I already had on hand to make my own mixed media supplies.
Last Halloween, my 4-year-old great-niece was beyond excited. It was her very first time dressing up and getting ready to hand out candy. She had her costume on, her sweets ready by the door, and waited with so much anticipation, only for no one to knock. We soon realised the house didn’t have any Halloween decorations or signs to show they were taking part.
This year, I wanted to make it extra special for her. So I decided to create a fun and spooky Halloween wreath that could hang on the front door. Something eye-catching, playful, and filled with quirky little details to let everyone know they’re ready to join in on the Halloween fun. It’s also a great way to get creative with items you already have at home, especially if you live in a place like Australia, where Halloween supplies can be limited.
We were heading off on holiday when the idea for this project came to me. Standing at the airport carousel, almost every second suitcase was black — including ours. Everyone was picking up identical bags to check if it was theirs. That was the first reason I wanted custom covers.
